Who is Ricky M. Elgendy?

After spending hours contemplating what is the best way to answer the tough question of “Who do I think I am”, I came to the conclusion that I am a student of life. I not only try my best to excel in all my studies; but I want to learn as much as I can about everything and everyone around me. I love meeting new people, going to new places, watching sports, and seeing everything that is beautiful in life. My lifelong mission is to be in the field of television and be a part of great shows.

I graduated from Hunter last year with my honors degree in Media Studies. Throughout my Hunter career, I have been searching for a good internship to get my foot in the door with, but I had been unable to land one. I finally managed to achieve a good one and I just finished my first week at VH1 doing On Air Promotions and handling the commercial timeslots. I already learned a lot of new things that I never even noticed as a viewer. Now when I see TV shows, I know exactly how everything comes together with the technical aspect, and I see my work displayed on television screen, with the colors and other things that I chose to put on for the viewers to see…to me that’s pretty cool so far. Hopefully, after a while I will get into production and actually be a part of the show making process. During my time as an Undergrad, I was working at the City’s 311 hotline and it was an amazing experience since I had the opportunity to speak to and help around a million people from around the world over the years during my tenure there. I recently left that job a few months ago because it was not my calling in life, plus I am already 25 and its time for me to get back on track and get into television while I am still young.

I am also a former athlete, competed in High School as well as here at Hunter a few years back in the sport of Wrestling. I am and always will be a huge Professional Wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts fan. I used to be a huge boxing fan, but unfortunately boxing is not what it used to be. MMA is definitely taking over. I am also a former High School bowler and I still enjoy bowling with my friends when I get the chance to.

A site that represents me is this, because I can follow the news, stats, announcements and all other information of my favorite MMA fighters all in one place.

In the fast paced and Media driven world that we live in, we have no choice but to be a part of the latest and greatest trend, influence, technology and culture from those all around us. Some of us embrace it, while some don’t. I chose to track most trends closely so that I can relate to my peers to an extent. I am a Facebooker, YouTuber, and media consumer. I have not made the Twitter leap yet though…maybe one day. In the meantime I am just always connected to my Blackberry and all the media apps on it.

In conclusion, I am Ricky.
