What I Do Defines Me

Who am I? My friends and family would describe me as quiet yet always active physically and mentally, curious, sensitive, technical, a listener, a learner, and a warm hearted person. I myself would admit that I am more of a listener than a talker; I like to watch and observe. However, when I do talk, I ask lots of questions. When it comes to learning, I am a visual learner and like to see physical images and diagrams. I am very interested in how things work and the reasons for things being the way they are. I don’t just like knowing facts and information about things, but I like knowing why and understanding why they exist.

A bit about my interests and background, I’ve been a playing the violin since the age of six. Music has been a huge part of my life; I’ve had countless number of performances from grade school to the college level as a soloist and as an orchestra. I’m also a person who loves to try new things and be spontaneous once in a while. As much as music has taken up a part of my life, I would have never thought I would take up a new hobby which was completely different. Three years ago I had found a new interest which is a passion for health and fitness. Throughout my entire childhood all the way to college I had never participated in any athletics or sports, and I could say that I’m now in the best physical shape I’ve ever been and continuing to learn and grow. One source of media that I constantly use every day whether it’s listening to different orchestral pieces or looking for workout tips, or just browsing the most viewed videos is YouTube.com. As a media consumer I believe that technology and Media in society play a major role in shaping who we are. Media can influence us by displaying images of people and styles and give us an idea of what we want to achieve or be. I believe that people too can influence media and reflect it back on to us as a society. Identity is an influential and ever changing process, and it takes time to find out who you are. You never know what the future might bring.
