Ms. Magazine is a quarterly magazine which is published by the Feminist Majority Foundation, based in Los Angeles and Arlington, Virginia. According to the about page in its website, “Ms. was the first national magazine to make feminist voices audible, feminist journalism tenable, and a feminist worldview available to the public.” This is basically a magazine for women made by women covering issues related to women’s status, women's rights, and women's points of view.
I do not want to say anything offensive to feminist people, but by reading “Women in Broadcasting” written by Barbara Murray Eddings, I came up with this question: When will women satisfied with their status? Of course, I sometimes face with a situation where it obviously unfair because of your sex. And I find ii to be unfair. But it seems like a never ending debate to me.
For example, Eddings was arguing that there are only a few female workers in the media world. However, wouldn't it be a problem if almost all the workers in media company are females?
In the writing, I found out that decision-makers in media world are always males. But it makes sense if those males are hired because of their ability to make a decision. I often hear this statement (it is Japanese saying I guess) “You are about to crush into a car. If you were a man, you try to avoid accident at the last second by turning the steering wheel. But if you were a female, you just let go of the steering wheel and scream.” I think this is very true if I only see my parents and myself. I might be just screaming in a situation where I have to make a decision in a moment.
Although I said what could be against the feminists, but I, as a woman, am enjoying how women discuss about gender. It is good to publish a magazine like Ms., but the most important thing is to let men know how women think about roles.
