Yellow Girls

A short adaptation from YELL-Oh Girls! (forward by Vickie Nam)

I wrote a 6 page script, and realized if anyone was going to watch it, there had to be major cuts. I plan on making it a podcast, but from doing this I learned that my English kinda stinks too. -Sooo maybe just a picture essay.

Production notes aside, I really identified with this anthology- and brought up to many Asian American groups. I have yet to hear a girl not say "Whoaa, that's my story...". -I really want to fine tune some more things, for the sake of a deadline, I have this- but I honestly do want to show this to my little cousins and nieces who tell me to stop talking when I try to speak in Chinese because they say the language sounds funny.

It's my personal goal to see to that we can have more Asian American figures that all can recognize. Being under represented causes much misinterpretations and misconceptions about individuals.

I enjoyed watching your project piece. It was entertaining and eye-opening. I'm definitely gonna look into reading "Yellow Girls".

I swear if I ran into this video on my own, I'd think you've been doing YouTube videos for years!

Choose and research a female film director/screenwriter and a single work or several works. Describe their approach to film making and explain their role as auteur. Using references to the readings and references to your own research (be sure to cite) explain the work, especially as it relates to auteur theory. How does the filmmaker explain their work and their process? How are the works and filmmakers received? How are they critiqued? Every post must have a short bibliography/works sited. You must include at least 2 additional sources with your post. If possible include links to the readings or sources, if not list them properly in your works cited.

Research and discuss an alternative news organization or independent news source that is outside this norm, possibly by or for women specifically. The example can be local, national or international. Look to independent media in developing nations as well for interesting and inspiring examples. You can also choose to concentrate on a specific person. Be sure to explain the publication or online source in depth, explain it's origins and why it is successful or necessary as an alternative media source. What is the role of gender in this story?
